Nestled on the picturesque Cayuga Lake, the Owasco Pier Outlet stands as a highly popular destination for boating, fishing, and picnics. Given the scenic beauty of the location, achieving a smooth and pristine coating for the hand railing was of utmost importance. To meet this requirement, a duplex coating comprising hot-dip galvanizing and powder coating was specifically chosen.
This strategic combination not only imparted a pleasing appearance to the 65 tons (69 tonnes) of hand railing but also endowed the steel with exceptional durability. This durability ensures the structure can withstand the challenges posed by nature, enduring exposure to the elements and daily contact with visitors. The Owasco Pier Outlet serves as a venue for numerous festivals and special events, attracting local dignitaries, state officials, and politicians. Given its extensive exposure to both the environment and human contact, special handling of the handrail became an additional requirement.
To address this need, a meticulous transportation plan was implemented to deliver the handrail to the pier without causing any nicks or marks on the powder coating.
