Expanding the green space and passive recreational areas of Riverfront Park, the Noisette Creek Pedestrian Bridge serves as a vital link connecting the existing park to the north side of Noisette Creek, aligning with the overall vision for community development.
Designed by Thomas & Hutton, the Noisette Creek bridge in North Charleston, SC has gained recognition, being named by Architectural Digest as one of the 11 most beautiful elevated walkways through nature globally. This meandering bridge provides a serene environment for people to appreciate nature and expansive water views, enhancing pedestrian access to the Riverfront Park. The bridge features a curved design with a viewing platform at the midpoint, complete with a distinctive curved planter and bench.
The signature Keuka Style curved cable railing system, chosen for its natural synergy with the bridge’s architectural curves, consists of posts crafted to a height of 42″. These posts, surface-mounted to the walkway and viewing platform, underwent hot-dip galvanizing for robust corrosion protection, essential for the bridge’s location near Noisette Creek, a tributary to Cooper River—a brackish estuary connected to the Atlantic Ocean in North Charleston, SC. The posts were further adorned with an oil bronze super durable powder coating, not only contributing to aesthetics but also ensuring longevity in the temperate marine environment.
Hubbell Galvanizing’s expertise in combining hot-dip galvanizing and powder coating in a duplex system, along with the use of stainless steel cabling, demonstrates their commitment to providing a beautiful, low-maintenance solution for the cabling system in this scenic marine setting, reinforcing the project’s success and resilience.
