Enhancing the green space and passive recreational areas of Riverfront Park, the Noisette Creek Pedestrian Bridge seamlessly links the existing park to the north side of Noisette Creek, aligning with the overarching vision for community development.
Designed by Thomas & Hutton, the Noisette Creek bridge in North Charleston, SC has earned global recognition, acknowledged by Architectural Digest as one of the 11 most beautiful elevated walkways in natural settings worldwide. This meandering bridge serves as a tranquil space for individuals to immerse themselves in the natural surroundings and expansive water views, facilitating additional pedestrian access to the Riverfront Park. The bridge’s unique design incorporates a viewing platform at the midpoint, complete with a distinctive curved planter and bench.
For the bridge project, the signature Keuka Style curved cable railing system was a natural selection, with the curves of the posts harmonizing with the architectural curves of the bridge. Crafted to a height of 42″, these posts were surface-mounted to the walkway and viewing platform. To ensure robust corrosion protection in the brackish estuary near Noisette Creek—a tributary to Cooper River leading to the Atlantic Ocean in North Charleston, NC—the posts underwent hot-dip galvanizing. For an added touch of aesthetics, an oil bronze super durable powder coating was applied to the posts.
Hubbell Galvanizing’s expertise shines through in the combination of hot-dip galvanizing and powder coating, creating a duplex system alongside stainless steel cabling. This innovative approach ensures a stunning, low-maintenance solution for the cabling system, showcasing the commitment to both beauty and durability in a temperate marine environment. The success of the Noisette Creek Pedestrian Bridge stands as a testament to Hubbell Galvanizing’s dedication to excellence.
