About Hubbell
Industry leaders since 1925
In 1925 Orville William Hubbell founded O.W. Hubbell and Sons, Inc . Despite the difficulties of the Great Depression, Orville was able to grow the business from only supplying highway safety products to New York State, to covering all of New England, and then ultimately down along the east coast to Florida.
The nation was quickly realizing that steel products needed to be galvanized, and in 1968 the company invested in our current hot-dip galvanizing plant to meet increasing production needs. Orville Hubbell’s son, Allen William Hubbell, was an active leader of the company until his death in 2005. Allen spearheaded the “Project Phoenix”, to establish themselves in a niche market to deliver the highest quality products and services efficiently at competitive pricing.
Allen’s son, Daniel Merritt Hubbell continued as President and CEO. Daniel expanded Hubbell Galvanizing and introduced Fortress Fusion Coatings, powder coat division, with great strategic methods until his death. Orville’s grandson, Jonathan Hubbell, was then president until his retirement in December 2016. In purely Dan Hubbell fashion, Jock reinforced a strong company culture and solidified Hubbell’s commitment to quality.
Today, Hubbell Galvanizing and Fortress Fusion Coatings are still powered by the family of Orville Hubbell, along with many other local families who find Hubbell Galvanizing a great place to work and build a career. We are proud to say that we:
Operate with 100% LED Lighting
Upcycle 100% of zinc byproducts
Recycle 100% of our acid-since 2000
Longstanding memberships with the American Galvanizers Association, ASTM, NFIB, 100 Year Galvanized Rebar Alliance, and MACNY.
Provide service to nearly every industry-Commercial, Industrial, Agriculture, Transportation, Residential, OEM’s, Energy & Utilities, Manufacturing, Recreation, Food-Service & Hospitality, Mining, Technology, Arts & Entertainment, Construction, and Health Care to name a few.
To be sure, with every reinvention, our core standards and values have not changed in the slightest. The plant has expanded several times over the decades but keeps all operations and corporate headquarters at one site in New York Mills, NY. The facilities operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The answer to the age-old question, “Why Rust?” is galvanizing.
